Linux is a Unix-like and POSIX-computer operating system , This operating system was designed to be free of charge and have open source software. Linux was originally released on October 5th, 1991, The original purpose for Linux was to search the internet. as time proceeded Linux started to be come more and more in depth with compatibility and was starting to become fairly popular. Linux is used for networking and data bases because the operating system is extremely flexible. there are many advantages to using Linux compared to using Windows or Mac.
- Cost - Installing Linux on a computer is completely free and this is a huge advantage to Windows and Mac considering purchasing windows 8 costs at least 80 dollars.
- Security - There are many more security based programs already installed in Linux that will help detect and terminate viruses or malware that could enter the computer compared to the free security Windows offers.
- Freedom Throughout The Operating System - Linux allows the user to control basically every aspect the Operating System has within the control panel and settings.
- Hardware - Linux allows the user to store a much larger amount of memory on it compared to Windows and Mac.
Linus Torvald is arguably one of the greatest programmers to have ever lived because of the skills he has used within building the Linux OS. after doing this research i am personally considering installing Linux and start using it over the Windows 8.1 i am currently operating.
